C-41

Today marked a new chapter in my first year of my Press & Editorial photography degree, we were inducted onto the C-41 processing machine. For this we were required to go shoot a roll of colour film to process.  We had to shoot in daylight, to get the best range of colours and tones. I went out into Falmouth by myself armed with my Canon T70 a 50mm Lens and a Single roll of Colour film. The colour printing comes tomorrow, which I am very excited about, for now I scanned in two images.

90.

Umbrella.

The first image I like because of the way I went about shooting it, Whilst driving past in my car I noticed her sitting on the bench and how her coat was simular colouring to the gravel behind her. I just thought it would look cool on colour film, so i pulled over and approached her. I'm sure she was more nervous than I was, a 22yr old striding up to her with a camera, but I do struggle sometimes with approaching strangers asking to photograph them, as the British public can be quite nasty about it. However she was very sweet and after I told her I was a documentary photographer just documenting Falmouth for the day she let me take her portrait. I quite like it.

The second image of the umbrella I shot with practicing colour printing in the back of my mind. It's got a lot of tones and colours and so I thought could make an interesting print. I won't go into a babble about the representation of the umbrella amongst the trash... It was simply there so I shot it.
